Quality Engineering Lead - Premium American lifestyle and clothing brand known for casual, trendy apparel targeting young adults and teens.

What You’ll Do: Lead with a Quality Mindset Drive early conversations around risks, dependencies, and real-world store behavior. Help teams think about quality from the start—not at the end. Build Smarter Test Strategies Shape practical test approaches for critical POS flows including sales, returns, promotions, and payments. Ensure teams have the right mix of feature, regression, and end to end coverage. Strengthen Automation & Tooling Guide how we build and evolve automation across UI, API, and integration layers using Appium/Java and BDD patterns. Keep automation reliable, maintainable, and well-integrated into CI/CD pipelines. Navigate Complexity Across Systems Help squads uncover risks across registers, mobile store applications, services, and payment devices. Provide clear strategies for testing high impact or cross system features. Improve Build Quality & Delivery Pipelines Enhance CI/CD workflows with meaningful quality gates, fast feedback, and reliable automated tests. Reduce flakiness and improve debugging across environments. Partner & Influence Across Teams Work closely with engineering, product, design, and DevOps to ensure releases meet customer and operational expectations. Assist with acceptance criteria and test planning. Mentor and Elevate Engineering Quality Coach engineers in better testing habits, automation design, risk assessment, and performance thinking. Influence through expertise—not gatekeeping. Ensure Readiness for Real World Stores Lead quality readiness for major releases, peak events, and seasonal store traffic. Validate performance, resilience, and overall production reliability. Drive Continuous Improvement Identify patterns across teams and convert them into scalable tools, standards, and best practices that raise the bar for how we build and ship. What You Bring: Required Experience & Capabilities 7–9 years in Quality Engineering, including 5+ years focused on POS or Store Systems testing. Deep understanding of the POS lifecycle: sales, returns, discounts, promotions, and payment integrations. Strong automation experience with Appium + Java (Cucumber/BDD preferred). Hands-on API testing experience across REST/microservices, including JSON validation. Proven ability to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines. Strong Oracle SQL skills for data validation and backend verification. Experience with test/requirements management tools like JIRA, qTest, or equivalents. Comfort working across feature, regression, and end-to-end integration testing. Preferred Retail domain knowledge across Store Ops, Omni-channel, and Payments. Experience with observability and triage tools (Splunk, Dynatrace, Firebase, Quantum Metric, etc.). Experience testing payment terminals and POS hardware peripherals. Experience with Charles/Proxyman network tracing and debugging. Familiarity with Android Studio debugging workflows. Experience with mobile cloud test labs like Kobiton or Sauce Labs. Why This Role Is Exciting: Your work directly affects store reality. You’ll protect the moments customers remember—checkout speed, tender reliability, smooth returns. You’ll lead quality at scale. Your standards and strategies influence multiple teams and deployments, not just a single project. You’ll work in meaningful complexity. Payments, promotions, devices, microservices, and real-world constraints make this challenging (and never boring). You’ll modernize how quality works. Automation, CI/CD, observability, and defect prevention become part of the engineering culture you shape. You’ll be a partner, not a gate. You’ll coach teams to own quality—while you raise the bar for how confidently we ship.
